Removing rust, scale, paint and corrosion is best done with a hand wire brush or power grinder wire brush. Choose a cup brush when working on large, flat surfaces, whereas an end brush is great for recessed or tight areas. If you have an irregular surface, a crimped wire wheel may be your best option. Most wire brushes are available in carbon steel for your & general purpose; jobs or stainless steel when you are working with aluminum, stainless steel, and other high tensile alloys.
